Michael's Story
A Trusted Advisor, Not a Salesperson
Michael John Lau did not start in real estate as a full-time agent. He learned the business part-time first, then spent five years on an established team building the skills and systems that make transactions run well: pricing from real data, preparing homes properly, and negotiating from a position of preparation rather than pressure.
Today he leads the Kaizen Real Estate Team at eXp Realty, Luxury Division, serving buyers and sellers across Markham, Unionville, and York Region. His practice centres on the $800K to $1.5M family-home market and luxury properties above $2M, with a particular focus on detached homes, condos, custom builds, and downsizing moves.
The philosophy behind the team is in its name. Kaizen means continuous improvement. The goal is not to be perfect; the goal is to get a little better every day, in client service, in marketing, in negotiation, and in communication. That is the standard Michael holds himself and his team to.
Michael's own description of the job is simple: his role is not to convince anyone to buy or sell. It is to help them make the right decision for their situation, with all the information in front of them.
